History, uses and notes:

Once worn as a buttonhole by young unmarried men, Red Campion can provide a proud burst of pink and red to any meadow garden. 

Historically, its seeds have been known to treat snake bites.

It can grow in semi-shade and has a long flowering period from early spring right through to autumn. They have been known to be an ancient-woodland indicator.

Considered a highly attractive plant to humans, it is also popular amongst our pollinating friends. It will help us to #bringbackthebees

Description:

Red campion has rose-red flowers with five petals, each deeply notched and almost divided into two; its leaves and stems are hairy.
